Searching for Colleges

COLLEGE SEARCH

Some questions to keep in mind when looking at colleges:

  • Does the college or university offer your intended major or field of interest?
  • How far is too far away?
  • Are you going to live at home, campus, or off-campus?
  • Does the college have a large campus atmosphere or does it offer a small campus atmosphere that focuses on individualized attention?
  • What are the college’s admissions requirements? What are the college’s deadlines?
  • Tuition? In-state or out-of-state? If out-of-state, will your KEES money transfer?
  • Do you qualify for any of the scholarships offered by the college?
  • Athletics?

BE  MINDFUL OF  DEADLINES

Please visit the following sites to assist you in your college search, but keep in mind, nothing replaces an actual visit to the college.  College Visit permission forms can be picked up in Ms. Pastura's office.  The form must be completed including signatures of the student's parent or guardian and teacher and turned in one week prior to the visit. The student must also bring proof from the college representative that he or she visited the college.

College Scholarship, Colleges and On-line Degrees This data base offers information on various colleges, scholarships, and on-line degrees.

ILP The Individual Learning Plan, administered by CareerCruising, is a tool that is updated annually by students grades 6-12. Assessments and databases will guide students toward informed decisions as they plan their education and career, regardless of age or grade level.  Our Portfolio Tool helps students translate their career and education exploration into concrete individual plans for success.  Students and parents will need a password for access which can be obtained from the counselor.
