Holmes High School will host their fourth annual Close the Deal Event on Wednesday, September 28. The day-long celebration focuses on helping seniors commit to finishing high school and pursuing their education beyond high school graduation.
Close the Deal was inaugurated by former Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson while he was mayor of Louisville. Holmes was chosen to be part of the second statewide cohort and has continued the tradition.
The successful launch of Close the Deal at Holmes is because of the partnership among state and local officials, educators and business leaders who come together to engage seniors in crucial conversations about their future plans.
Seniors will learn about the financial aid process, as well as, participate in table talks—20-minute conversations—with college admission officers, current college students and local business leaders.
After lunch, both juniors and seniors will speak with representatives of over 20 colleges and military recruiters.
A special forum, “From the Parent’s Perspective”, has been developed to give parents/guardians the opportunity to discuss and ask questions of two parents who have recent high school graduates, that have gone on to college. The speakers will share insight on the process and tips on how to support your student. The forum will begin at 11:35 a.m. and continue until 12:05 p.m. in the auditorium.
