Congratulations to Tom Wherry, who was elected chairman of the Covington Board of Education at a special meeting Thursday night. Glenda Huff was elected vice chair of the board.

Wherry, who is entering his third year on the board, said he is looking forward to the coming year.
“I have totally enjoyed my time on the board and I appreciate the support of the board and the district,’’ he said. “We are going to take care of the business of educating our kids.’’

Wherry said he would like to see more community and business engagement to help the district reach its goals.
