Dear Families:
First and foremost thank you for your support, patience and understanding as we are starting the second week of school amid COVID-19. Last week, schools held orientation, passed out laptops, conducted testing and met new parents and students. This week, online learning begins.
I am very proud of the way our students, parents and employees are handling the different demands during the most unusual of circumstances. We have been working diligently to get students the pertinent supplies and information needed to learn at home. For example, the district ordered devices that were supposed to arrive before the start of school, but the shipment has been delayed until October. To address the shortage of devices, the district will rent 700 used computers that students will use until our new devices arrive.
Like parents, we want the educational process to go as smoothly as possible for our students. However, please keep in mind, opening schools during a pandemic is a first for Covington Schools as well as other districts across the United States. That is why we so much appreciate your understanding and patience.
Alvin L. Garrison, Superintendent
