Dear Parents/Guardians/Staff:
Covington Independent Public Schools will return to in-person instruction on February 22 operating on the “A/B” Hybrid Model.
This means students who are assigned to the “A” rotation will attend school in person on Mondays and Tuesdays. Students assigned to the “B” rotation will attend school in person on Thursdays and Fridays. Students will continue to log in and complete assignments online on days in which they are not scheduled to attend in person.
Students who opted for virtual only in the Covington Virtual Academy will continue with their online assignments five days a week. If you are not sure of your child’s grouping, please contact your child’s school.
Preschool students will attend morning and afternoon sessions Monday through Thursday. Bus routes and the school day will continue as they did during the regular school year.
As a reminder, parents and staff need to continue to report to schools within 24 hours if you or anyone in your household tests positive, or if you or your child have been exposed to a positive case. This information helps us to determine whether our schools remain open. COVID-related cases for Covington schools are on the district dashboard, which can be accessed on the district website, www.covington.kyschools.us by clicking COVID dashboard.
We look forward to having our students back in schools and in our classrooms. A safe return to in-person classes requires students, teachers and staff to practice safety measures at home and at school. Moving forward, we all play a critical role in keeping our schools open. At school, we must wear face coverings, socially distance, wash our hands and cover our coughs and sneezes. We must also monitor our own health and stay home when we are ill.
If you should have questions, please call your child’s principal. As always, stay safe.
Warmest Regards,
Alvin L. Garrison,
Superintendent
