The fourth grade students at Ninth Elementary learned how to enhance their writing by using personification. After reading the mentor text, Up North at the Cabin, by Marsha Wilson Chall, students selected an animal and created a mask of the animal that represented their choice. The student writers then put on their masks and wrote about the world as they saw it from the animals point of view.
Fourth grade teachers Melia Fox, Amberly Behrens, Lauren Cobb and Tim Roberts planned and executed this engaging writing experience for their students! Students celebrated their writing by displaying masks and writing outside their classrooms.
