It was a great night of learning and fun during the third session of the Born Learning Communities workshop Tuesday night at Eastside Neighborhood Early Childhood Education Center.
The workshop focused on the importance of early literacy. Children of attendees enjoyed a movie while their parents learned the importance of building early literacy skills through storytelling and communicating by using facial expressions, gestures and voice intonation.
Mary Kay Connolly of Read Ready Covington brought books for families to take home and read together. Nine families attended the workshop, which included a big Italian dinner.
The last Born Learning Communities workshop will take place on Tuesday, July 23 from 5:30 - 7 p.m. It is open to all Covington residents with children birth to five years of age. Free dinner and childcare will be provided.
The workshop will include a resource fair with representatives from local agencies who will provide information and resources for families with young children. To attend the workshop, please register at https://bornlearningcov.eventbrite.com.
