The John G. Carlisle Student Technology Leadership Program attended the state STLP competition in Lexington, KY over Spring Break. One way students participate in STLP is to submit digital online products for judging. The submissions are judged regionally and the best are invited to state for final judging. 5th Grader, Nathan Stvol and 4th Grader Mercedes Hatton were both invited to submit their original music pieces at the state level. They created a song on a website called Soundation. Students choose from many different beats and instruments and combine them to make their own unique music.
In addition, 5th Grader Opal Chambers submitted an original photo that she took with an ipad at NKU when we attended the STLP Regional Competition. This picture was also invited to state for judging. Although we had no winning entries, the students enjoyed all the hands-on STEM activities, viewing projects submitted by other schools, and experimenting with the many forms of technology provided in the Lexington Convention Center. The students were also excited for the opportunity to visit Rupp Area.
