2nd Grader, Erwin Pablo De Leon Wins Raffle Drawing From Read Ready Covington

Read Ready Covington

Be a Hero. Read together daily!

Read Ready Covington is an early literacy initiative sponsored by the City of Covington in partnership with Covington’s public and parochial schools, public library, Housing Authority, Housing Consortium, Health Department, social service and childcare sites, and businesses.

The goals are to increase:

  1. Kindergarten readiness and preschool early literacy experiences
  2. Covington students’ reading at or above grade level by end of 3rd grade
  3. Literacy as a priority and shared community value.

Early reading and communication skills will set students on a better course to complete their school career with strong workforce skills and greater opportunities to participate fully in the community.

Learn more about the free literacy apps and other resources available to you at www.readreadycov.com. You can also contact us at info@readreadycov.com

Read Ready Covington entered 32 families (those with children 3rd Grade and younger) into the raffle for a RRC Reading Bundle at the Meet the Teacher event held at the end of August.

The winner is......(drumroll please)...... Erwin Pablo De Leon! Erwin is a second grade student in Mrs. Chambliss' class. On Wednesday, he received a book bundle with fun books to help build his at-home library as well as a Read Ready Covington t-shirt! Congratulations Erwin!

Erwin and all preK- 3rd grade students living in Covington can access stories on the go using a free dual app called Footsteps2Brilliance and Clever Kids University. www.myf2b.com/register/covington  or www.mycku.com . The apps are available on any smart phone, tablet, laptop or PC and allow children and their families to have access to over 1000 songs, stories, and skill based games that help children become strong readers and successful students.
