• Alert:

Covington Independent Public Schools will return to in-person learning on September 28, operating on the “A/B” Hybrid Model.

This means students who are assigned to the “A” group will attend school in person on Mondays and Tuesdays. Students assigned to the “B” group will attend school in person on Thursdays and Fridays. Students will continue to log in and complete assignments online on days in which they are not scheduled to attend in person. Earlier this month during orientation visits, schools informed students of which group they were assigned. Please contact your child’s school if you are not sure of your child’s grouping. Students who opted for virtual only in the Covington Virtual Academy, will continue with their online assignments five days a week. Just a reminder that Covington Virtual Academy students must remain fully virtual until December 18.

Biggs offering in-person and remote classes for pre school students

Biggs Logo

Children enrolling at the James E. Biggs Early Childhood Education Center will have options for attending the pre school this fall. Parents can select an in-person preschool or remote preschool for their children.  Biggs will continue to offer its traditional in-person pre school Monday-Thursday. The morning session will be from 8:45 to 11: 45 a.m., and the afternoon session goes from 12:45-3:45 p.m.

Transportation will be provided for students who reside within the boundaries of Covington Independent Public Schools.

Families can also choose the remote option called "Hive Time." Preschool staff will work with preschoolers through live streamed lessons, recorded lessons, phone calls and emails.  Information and a form to select preferences will be mailed to families early next week.

The first day of preschool will be Tuesday, September 1.
